New Fave: La Cocina at Old Town Artisan's Gallery

We spent a surprisingly cool afternoon having brunch at La Cocina yesterday. Several members of the local Tucson music scene were there to see a performance by the lovely Maya, including drummer Chilly Willie!

I adore the simple menu, and enjoyed my GLBT sandwich (made with tofu) and potato salad. Pete had the Tilapia salad. Both were grilled perfectly and made fresh. The owner also kept bringing us cold glasses of lemonade, ice tea and water. Since La Cocina is primarily outdoors, misters and lots of plant life temper the intense Monsoon season heat.

Next time I would love to revisit earlier in the day, with a small group. It's perfect for bringing a book to read and hang out under the shade as well. *ETA: the owner of La Cocina also is the owner of Bentley's coffee house. They recognized Pete from his many, many visits last summer and playing at the open mics.
